1. Add a Metal
On the Spot Price screen tap "Add Metal" and choose from Silver, Gold, Platinum or Palladium. A price card appears for that metal. Repeat to add more metals.

2. Reading the Price Cards
Each metal shows a large current spot price with a colored banner at the top. Below the price a single row shows two things: a cyan "Set Price Manually" link on the left, and a green or red arrow with the dollar change amount on the right. Green means the price is up from the last displayed value, red means it is down.

3. Refresh Prices
Tap the blue Refresh Prices button to fetch current spot prices for all active metals from our secure live feed. The price cards update instantly and the arrows show the change from the previous price. A green checkmark with the update time confirms success. You can also refresh prices from My Wallet by tapping the circular arrow icon next to the + button at the top of the screen, so you never have to leave your wallet just to update prices.

4. Set Price Manually
Tap the cyan Set Price Manually link on any metal card to open the odometer sheet. Scroll the wheels to dial in the exact price you want. Tap Done when finished. The card updates immediately and the arrow reflects the change. Use this to adjust for real world scenarios. For example, set a slightly higher price to account for dealer premiums when buying at a coin show, set a lower price to estimate melt value when selling scrap, or match the exact price a dealer is offering so your wallet reflects what you will actually receive.

5. Reorder or Delete a Spot Price Card
Swipe left on any spot price card to reveal two buttons, blue Reorder and red Delete. Tapping Reorder shows a banner and activates drag handles on all cards so you can drag them into the order you prefer. Tap Done Reordering when finished. Tapping Delete removes the metal and any wallet items for that metal after confirmation.

6. Using Without Internet
Your entire wallet, including all coins, bars, rounds, quantities, weights and values, works perfectly without any connection. Use Set Price Manually on any card to adjust spot prices at any time. Precious Metals Pro never requires internet to function.

7. Toggle Weight Units
Tap the Total Weight display in the totals bar at the bottom of the Spot Price screen or My Wallet, or the unit toggle button in the top left corner of the Wallet Breakdown sheet, to instantly switch your combined wallet totals between troy oz and grams. This is a read-only display conversion of everything already in your wallet. It's separate from the Troy oz/Grams picker inside the Add/Edit Item form, which controls how a single item's weight is entered and resets when switched (see "Switching Units While Adding an Item" under Important Considerations).

8. Adding Silver Coins
Enter the coin's exact pure silver content directly in troy oz. This is how coins are known, bought, and sold, so no calculation is needed. American Silver Eagle = 1.0, Morgan Dollar = 0.7734, Franklin Half = 0.36169, Pre-1964 Quarter = 0.1808, Mercury Dime = 0.07234. Enter the coin's real purity (99.9% for the Eagle, 90% for the others) for your records. It doesn't change the calculation for coins.

To weigh several coins or bars together instead of entering their certified content individually, switch the Weight unit to Grams. The app then treats the number as a measured weight. It converts to troy oz and applies the purity you entered above, the same way Junk Metal & Scrap does, rather than taking the number as pure content directly.

9. Understanding Gold Purity and Weight
A 24kt American Gold Buffalo = 99.99% purity. A 22kt American Gold Eagle = 91.67% purity. Despite the different purity, enter the exact pure gold content directly in troy oz for both. This is how coins are known, bought, and sold, so no calculation is needed: American Gold Buffalo = 1.0, American Gold Eagle 1 oz = 1.0, 1/2 oz = 0.5, 1/4 oz = 0.25, 1/10 oz = 0.10.

A 1 oz 24kt American Gold Buffalo and a 1 oz 22kt American Gold Eagle both contain exactly 1.0000 oz of pure gold and are worth the same at spot price, even though the Eagle physically weighs more due to its alloy. Coins are valued by pure precious metal content, not total weight.

To weigh several gold coins or bars together instead of entering their certified content individually, switch the Weight unit to Grams. The app converts to troy oz and applies the purity you entered above, same as Junk Metal & Scrap.

Gold Karat Reference. For jewelry, scrap, or any gold item that isn't a standard coin, weigh it yourself and use its karat purity below:
24kt = 99.99%, 23kt = 95.83%, 22kt = 91.67%, 21kt = 87.50%, 20kt = 83.33%, 19kt = 79.17%, 18kt = 75.00%, 17kt = 70.83%, 16kt = 66.67%, 15kt = 62.50%, 14kt = 58.33%, 13kt = 54.17%, 12kt = 50.00%, 11kt = 45.83%, 10kt = 41.67%, 9kt = 37.50%, 8kt = 33.33%.

10. Tracking Junk Metal, Jewelry and Scrap
Weighing a bag or bulk lot of circulated 90% silver coins, often called junk silver, or constitutional silver when referring specifically to pre-1965 U.S. dimes, quarters, halves and dollars, works the same way as jewelry and scrap: enter 90 for purity, choose Grams or Troy oz to match your scale, and enter the total measured weight. For a single coin whose exact content you already know, even a common junk silver coin such as one Morgan Dollar, use Coins & Bullion instead and enter its known pure content directly. This measured-weight method is for bulk lots and jewelry, where the exact content isn't already known.

Precious Metals Pro tracks any silver item, not just coins. For sterling silver jewelry enter 92.5 for purity and switch to Grams mode, then weigh your item on a kitchen or jewelry scale and enter that weight. The app converts to pure silver troy oz automatically. Common silver jewelry purities: sterling = 92.5%, Mexican silver = 95%, coin silver flatware = 90%, European 800 silver = 80%, fine silver = 99.9%. For example, a 20g sterling bracelet at 92.5% purity calculates to 0.59479 troy oz of pure silver. Some variance from these figures is normal for jewelry, since alloy composition varies by piece.

Most kitchen and postal scales default to standard (avoirdupois) ounces, which read about 9.7% higher than the true troy oz weight for the same item, so entering that number directly would overstate your item's value. 11. Tracking Gold Junk Metal, Jewelry and Scrap
Gold jewelry works the same way as silver. Weigh the item in grams, switch to Grams mode, and enter its karat purity as a percentage using the Gold Karat Reference in the step above. The app calculates the pure gold content and its melt value at the current spot price. Some variance from published figures is normal for jewelry, since alloy composition varies by piece.

Most kitchen and postal scales default to standard (avoirdupois) ounces, which read about 9.7% higher than the true troy oz weight for the same item, so entering that number directly would overstate your item's value. 12. Tracking Platinum & Palladium Junk Metal, Jewelry and Scrap
Platinum and palladium jewelry and scrap work the same way as silver and gold. Weigh the item in grams, switch to Grams mode, and enter its purity as a percentage using the fineness marks below. The app calculates the pure metal content and its melt value at the current spot price.

Platinum fineness (marked "PLAT" or "PT"): 999 = 99.9%, 950 = 95%, 900 = 90%, 850 = 85%.

Palladium fineness (marked "PD"): 999 = 99.9%, 950 = 95%, 500 = 50%.

13. Remove a Metal
Swipe left on any spot price card and tap the red Delete button. If the metal has wallet items you will be warned before removal.

14. Add to Your Wallet
Go to My Wallet and tap + in the top right corner. Choose Coins & Bullion or Junk Metal & Scrap, then choose the metal from the color-coded list, enter the name, purity, weight, and quantity. Tap Add.

15. Adjust Quantities
Use the stepper or Qty field on each row to adjust quantities at any time.

16. Edit or Delete a Wallet Row
Swipe left on any row in My Wallet to reveal three buttons: blue Reorder, green Edit, and red Delete.

17. Reorder Your Wallet List
Swipe left on any row and tap the blue Reorder button. A banner appears confirming reorder mode is active. Drag any row by its handle to a new position. Tap the blue Done Reordering button in the banner when finished.

18. View Totals & Breakdown
The totals bar at the bottom of both the Spot Price screen and My Wallet shows combined weight and value. Tap Breakdown for a read-only per-metal summary with its own weight unit toggle.
